MAPPING THE GENETIC RESOURCES OF AUTOCHTHONOUS FARM ANIMALS IN ALBANIA

Livestock resources are vital to Albania’s well-being and prosperity. Populations of endemic ruminant livestock in Albania represent a highly diverse “genetic treasure trove”, which is under increasing threat of genetic dilution and extinction. In the Republic of Albania, native and autochthonous animal breeds make up an important part of the farm animal population.

This document talks about the evaluation of Animal Genetic Resources (autochthonous breeds / ecotypes of animals) in Albania programs for the conservation and development of autochthonous breeds / ecotypes of animals, etc.
