Cihan Sultanoğlu, UN Assistant Secretary General and UNDP Regional Director for Europe and CIS on a three day visit to AlbaniaJul 13, 2016
Ms. Cihan Sultanoğlu, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant Administrator and Director of the Regional Bureau for Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States of the United Nations Development Programme is scheduled to arrive in Tirana on a three day visit.
During her stay in Albania Ms. Sultanoğlu will meet with Prime Minister of the Republic of Albania Edi Rama, cabinet ministers, international development partners and the United Nations Country team.
Ms. Sultanoğlu will participate at the Conference of Ambassadors, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where she will deliver a speech during one of the Conference panels called “Prioritizing Development in our Region”
Ms. Sultanoğlu will be present during the signing of the second phase of the Territorial and Administrative Reform Project (STAR 2) which aims to strengthen the country’s local governance system- with strong support from international development partners such as the European Union, the United States, Italy, Sweden and Switzerland.
Together with the Minister of Social Welfare and Youth, Ms. Sultanoğlu will visit the Shish Tufina Emergency Transitory Centre and see one of the interventions of the Government of Albania through EU funded project “Social Inclusion of Roma and Egyptian Communities” implemented by UNDP.
Ms. Sultanoğlu will be present during the launch of the first crowdfunding platform in Albania with Municipality of Tirana to help finance the rehabilitation of a children’s park in the capital - making the space accessible for children with disabilities. This is a as a follow up to Tirana Smart City Conference organized by Tirana Municipality in cooperation with UNDP.
